Everyone should take World History! This course introduces students to civilizations on every continent engaging specific historical cultures, religious faiths, economic and political systems. It is fascinating! Also, as world economies become more linked and as travel and communication improves, it is important to know as much as possible about the many and varied cultures of the world. Please note, this is NOT a self-paced course. *If you choose to take the Fall or Spring 15 week version of this course, each week involves the study of a different world region and culture. Each week you will be expected to read a chapter of the text, examine some primary sources, submit written answers or brief essays to accompanying questions, AND take a timed quiz which to do well on you must study for prior to taking. *If you choose to take the Summer 5 week version of this course you will have a more intense learning experience (that is because you have to do the same amount of work in 1/3 of the time). Each week you will be required to study 3 areas of the world. Most weeks you will need to read 3 chapters of the text, submit 3-8 written assignments, AND take 3 timed quizzes. No matter what version you select, it is important to pay close attention to the availability of assignments and quizzes. All assignments and quizzes are available for 7 days during the semester. Be sure to look at the "Course Schedule" and "Content Content" pages to see what needs to be completed each week. In addition to weekly assignments and quizzes, students will be expected to take a Midterm Exam and a Final Exam on Triton's campus. Both exams must be taken on campus at the Testing Center of the E.T.R.C. (room 142 of the AT Building) between the dates specified on your "Course Schedule." If you have never taken an online course before, you should participate in one of Triton’s online class orientations. While I am happy to assist you in the understanding of history, it is your responsibility to gain competence in navigating the online course.
